About the Department

Considered to be a vital aspect of higher education, the Department of English has been offering invaluable service to the college. The English Department of the college happens to be the largest Department in the Arts faculty of the college with three full-time sanctioned posts. It has a renowned history both with regard to faculty and alumni. Presently it is headed by Prof. Balaji Karhade since 2021. It is a full-fledged department and at present, the department has 06 teachers. The department has continued to promote and upgrade the knowledge of students, researchers and teachers.

Departmental Aim and Objectives

´ AIM- To inculcate the skills of English as an international language, its importance & the relationship between literature and society.

´ OBJECTIVES:

    To enable the learner –

ü Understand the history of English Literature.

ü Appreciate and enjoy the literature

ü To inculcate human values and aesthetics sense.

ü To develop capacity for critical thinking and creativity.

ü To develop and integrate the use of four language skills i.e. Reading, Listening, Speaking, Writing.
